Steigerwald’s Colorado performance set for broadcast, online streaming

Uvaldean Thomas Steigerwald’s work may be heard three times over the coming days when Colorado Public Radio will feature the Summer of Stars concert broadcast, which was recorded in 2019 at the summer music festival in Breckenridge, Colorado.

Broadcasts are set Friday at 1:30 p.m., Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. To listen, visit www.cpr.org/ and click on the “Listen Live” tab, located on the center right section at the top of the page.

During the concert, Steigerwald performed Rachmaninoff’s “Piano Concerto No. 3” in D minor, Op. 30, with the National Repertory Orchestra.

Although he is home with his family in Uvalde during the COVID-19 pandemic, Steigerwald is a piano fellow at the New World Symphony. A multiple prize and medal winner, he holds a Master of Music degree from The Juilliard School.

He has pursued a multifaceted career of solo performance, chamber music and orchestral piano, making his orchestral debut at age 18 performing Prokofiev’s “Piano Concerto No. 3” with the San Antonio Symphony.
