Tennis competition set Saturday at UHS


Saturday at the Uvalde High School Tennis Complex, the Coyotes and the Lobos will play their first District 29-5A dual-team tennis match of the season

At 1 p.m., the Uvaldeans will host the Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks.

Earlier Saturday, Coach Terri Rambie’s team will host the Laredo United Longhorns in a non-district dual-team match starting at 9 a.m.

Those who will represent UHS in varsity action Saturday include Andrew Melchor, Matt Fernandez, Jacob Sendejo, Miguel Morales, Bryson Catlett, Lorenzo Perez, Giovanni Valdez, Bailey Wimberly, Bailey Towne, Leigha Perez, Daniela Rodriguez, Natalie Coleman, Karissa Rangel, Kayla Balbuena, and Claire Garcia.

Junior varsity entrants for UHS Saturday will include Elizabeth Rodriguez, Kezia Rodriguez, Alexia Quijano, Ella Dorris, Cory Davenport, Marilyn Torres, Arlin Morales, Emily Gibbs, Ashley Garcia, Julianna Gutierrez, Elizaria Hernandez, Angel Miller, Sandra Bateman, Briana Amor, Destiny Gomez, Alexis Fernandez, Alexia Salazar, Ricardo Moreno, Michael Guerra, Miles Williams, Zach Arizmendi, Rene Alvarado, Fransisco Guerra, Austin Mendoza, Christian Weigand, Aiden Burt, Reene Garcia, Bobby Ruiz, and Juan Melchor.

The Coyotes and the Lobos, 7-3 for the season, beat the Medina Valley Panthers, 12-7, in dual-team action last week.

Following action Saturday, the UHS varsity will travel to Kerrville Tuesday to play the Tivy Antlers.

Action will get underway at 4 p.m.

On Wednesday, the Uvaldeans will host the Hondo Owls in action set to begin at 4:30 p.m. at the UHS Tennis Complex.

One week from today, the UHS junior varsity will host Kerrville Tivy for tennis action at the UHS complex.

UHS will host the Killeen Kangaroos in a 4:30 p.m. dual-team match one week from tomorrow.

One week from Saturday, the UHS varsity will take on the San Antonio Marshall Rams in a 9 a.m. match, while the UHS junior varsity will face the Eagle Pass Winn Mavericks junior varsity at 1 p.m.
