UHS, Pleasanton vie in soccer


Uvalde and Pleasanton will do battle in District 27-4A soccer Tuesday.

The Lobos will play the Eagles at Pleasanton, while the Coyotes will host the Eagles at the Uvalde High School soccer field.

Kick-off time for the varsity matches is set for 7 p.m. and will be preceded by a 5 p.m. junior varsity match.

Coach Keith Pendleton’s Lobos, 2-0 in district and 5-2-1 for the season, were to play the Somerset Lady Bulldogs at Somerset last Friday, but the match was rescheduled for tomorrow because of weather.

The Coyotes and the Somerset Bulldogs were originally scheduled to play soccer in Uvalde Friday, but that action was rescheduled for Monday.

Coach George Menchaca’s Coyotes will enter action tomorrow with a 0-1 district record and a 1-7 season record.

Results from the Monday matches will be reported in next Thursday’s edition of the Uvalde Leader-News.

The Pleasanton girls beat the La Vernia girls in a 3-2 district thriller last Tuesday at La Vernia.

Pleasanton, 2-0 in district, was scheduled to play in road action against the Poteet girls last Friday.

Next Friday night, the Lobos will face the La Vernia Lady Bears in a key district matchup, while the Coyotes will host La Vernia.

The Pleasanton Eagles, who lost a 3-2 decision against La Vernia last Tuesday, were to play the Poteet Aggies Friday.
