UHS runners to vie Thursday in district meet

The Uvalde Coyotes and the Uvalde Lobos will be at Floresville Thursday to compete in the District 29-4A cross-country meet.

Action in the meet will begin with the girls’ varsity 2-mile run at 8:30 a.m.

The boys’ varsity 5K run will get underway at 9:15 a.m. At 10 a.m., the girls’ junior varsity two-mile run will start, while the boys’ junior varsity 5K run will top off the competition with a 10:45 a.m. start.

The awards ceremony will follow 30 minutes after the conclusion of the final race. UHS runners will enter the district meet coming off of recent pre-district competition at Crystal City and Medina Valley.

Jack Collins captured first place for UHS in the Crystal City meet with his time of 17:17.006.

Annalia Gonzales and Ytza Duron were the first two UHS girls to finish at Crystal City. They posted respective times of 14:05.894 and 14:25.080.
