UHS soccer teams prepare for 2023 season

One week from Tuesday, the Uvalde Coyotes will kick off their soccer season as they travel to Bandera to play the Bandera Bulldogs.

Varsity competition is set to begin at 7 p.m. and that match will be preceded by a 5 p.m. junior varsity contest.

Following their season debut, Coach George Menchaca’s varsity Coyotes will vie in weekend tournament action at Kerrville Tivy set for Jan. 5-7.

The Coyotes play their first home match Jan. 20 when they host the San Antonio Memorial Minutemen at the UHS soccer field.

Assisting Coach Menchaca with the Coyotes soccer program this season is Coach Michael Garza.

Coach Keith Pendleton’s Lobos will be on the road to begin their season in the Pleasanton tournament.

They will open tourney play against the Southside Cardinals on Jan. 5.

The Lobos will take on the El Paso Pebble Hills Spartans and the Corpus Christi Tuloso-Midway Warriors in tournament action on Jan. 6.

Tourney play will run through Jan. 7.

The Lobos will make their home season debut on Jan. 17 when they host the Class 6A Laredo United Longhorns at the UHS soccer field.

Assisting Pendleton with the Lobos soccer program this season is Coach Maricela Lugo.
