A Veterans Day observance is planned for tomorrow, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Veteran’s Memorial Wall located on the grounds of the Uvalde County Fairplex.
For those wanting to honor or remember a veteran, American Legion Post 479 Auxiliary is selling memorial bricks to be placed on the wall. The memorial bricks cost $50 each and can be engraved with the veteran’s name, rank, branch of service and years of service. Poppy flowers will also be available in exchange for a donation.
The Uvalde de las Encinas Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution are helping organize the event, H-E-B is providing meals, and Amistad Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is furnishing desert.
Veterans Day is an annual holiday honoring all military veterans.
The annual ceremony typically incudes prayer, the national anthem, posting of the colors, and service flags representing military veterans carried by volunteers.
To purchase a memorial brick or for more information on the Memorial Wall, please contact Janice Estrada, 830-486-6411 or Jeanette Saucedo, 830-591-6782.
