Mary K. Welch Mary Katherine Piper Swift Welch, 94, of Uvalde, formerly of Alamo Heights in San Antonio, died on July 29, 2017, in Uvalde. Correction – Talavera

Correction The obituary for Stephen Talavera that appeared on Page 5 of the July 27, 2017, edition of the Uvalde Leader-News  should have said Talavera is survived by one half-sister and four half-brothers. The family inadvertently omitted Leo Talavera of Uvalde from the list of survivors.

Back Nine Bandits win local PGA junior event

The Back Nine Bandits are the Uvalde champions of the 2017 PGA Junior Golf League’s 16 and under division. The Bandits claimed first place with four wins, one loss and one tie.
